Good to know
Questions we get every day
The short answers. For anything else, call the desk at (719) 486-1418. Somebody is there around the clock.
Arriving
Getting in
What time is check in and check out?
Check in from 4:00 pm, check out by 11:00 am. The front desk is staffed around the clock. If you will arrive after 10:00 pm, call us with your confirmation number so we know to expect you.
How do I get into my room?
With a door code, not a key. The desk gives it to you at check in after checking your ID. The front and side doors lock from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am, and your code opens those too.
Is there an elevator?
No. The building is from 1886 and every guest room is on the second or third floor, up the grand staircase. The desk is glad to carry bags up and down, any hour.
There are no accessible rooms at the Delaware. If stairs are a problem, our sister property, the Old Tale Inn, is all on one level and has a step free accessible room.
Where do I park?
Our lot is one block away, $10.00 per night, paid at the desk. Street parking in town is free unless signed otherwise.
Trailers are not allowed in our lot, or in the lot at the Old Tale Inn. If you are towing one, call us before you arrive and we will tell you where to park. A trailer parked in our lot is a $250.00 fee.
The rooms
What is in the room
Do the rooms have their own bathroom?
Yes. The two bedroom suites share one bathroom between the two rooms.
Is there air conditioning?
No. At 10,152 feet the nights are cool all summer. If you want a fan, ask at the desk and we will bring one up.
Is there wifi and TV?
Both, in every room. The wifi is fast and the TVs have cable. The desk has the network details.
Can I get a rollaway bed?
Yes, for a fee, in the rooms that have space for one. The smaller rooms cannot take a rollaway, so ask when you book.
Can I store skis, a snowboard or a bike?
Yes, downstairs: $15.00 per night for skis, snowboards or bikes, and $5.00 per night for luggage. Gear is not allowed in guest rooms.
Do you allow pets or smoking?
No pets and no emotional support animals. Trained service animals are welcome. There is no smoking anywhere in the hotel, and there is a cleaning charge if you smoke in a room. The same rules apply at the Old Tale Inn.
Booking
Rates and rules
What is the cancellation policy?
Our best available, military and senior rates can be cancelled up to 24 hours before arrival. Non-refundable rates are non-refundable. The policy is the same at both of our hotels.
Is breakfast included?
No. Neither of our hotels serves breakfast. If a booking site told you breakfast was included, that was not us: we only sell rooms on this website and on Expedia, and third party sites that say otherwise are scam sites. Harrison Avenue has good breakfast within two blocks of the front door.
Where should I eat and drink?
The lobby bar is open in the evenings. Harrison Avenue has breakfast, coffee, saloons and dinner within a couple of blocks, and the desk will point you to the right one.
Can you host my wedding or event?
Yes. Three spaces: the dining room, the lobby and the mezzanine. The details are on the Events page. Email info@delawarehotel.com with a date and a headcount and we will come back with a proposal.
Leadville
The town and the building
What is the altitude like?
Leadville is 10,152 feet. Drink more water than feels necessary, take the first day slow, and go easy on the first night’s beer. Summer highs are in the 70s. Winter nights go below zero.
Is it really haunted?
Guests, former staff and current staff all have stories. Ask at the desk. They are friendly.
Ice, laundry, the small stuff?
Ice is on the second floor. There is no guest laundry. Anything else, ask: somebody is at the desk at every hour.
